Stories and Impact!

On Sunday, June 22, a team from Beacon Church shared about their recent service trip to Zambia with Hands at Work in May. It was such an encouraging morning hearing each person reflect on how the trip impacted them personally. They shared stories of the people who they served alongside in Africa and the kids who captured their hearts.

Seth shared something that really stood out – how much joy the kids had, even though they had so little. They noticed that in Zambia, the focus is often on who they can serve, while here in the West, the focus is so often on me. Even though we have so much and so many pleasures, we’re often not as happy.
It was a powerful reminder that as we seek to become more like Jesus and introduce others to Him, joy is found not in what we have but in how we love and serve others. We were also reminded of what it looks like to live out our culture of being loved and known by God and being loved and known by each other – because that’s exactly what our team experienced and witnessed in Zambia.

Everyone left with something they could apply to their own lives – whether it was choosing joy, looking for ways to serve others, or simply being grateful for what we have. God moved through the stories that were shared, and we’re thankful for our team’s willingness to go and to share what they learned with us.
